The farm bill and her Save Our Bacon Act
What they say
In the October 7 debate, Hinson said she worked across the aisle to get the farm bill through the House, that it was bipartisan, and that she pushed hard to include her Save Our Bacon Act, which would stop states like California from setting rules for hogs raised in Iowa.
“I've worked across the aisle to make sure we got that farm bill through the House.”
What the record shows ·
She sponsored H.R. 4673, the Save Our Bacon Act, in July 2025. The same text is section 12006 of the farm bill the House passed on April 30, 2026 (H.R. 7567). She voted yes; it passed 224-200, with 209 Republicans, 14 Democrats and one independent for it, and 197 Democrats and 3 Republicans against. The Senate has not passed it.
Limit: Most Democrats voted no, so the bipartisan part rests on 14 votes. The record shows her bill in the House version, not her work with Democrats. The farm bill is not law.
