Privacy
A small-data approach.

Public beta
The current site does not require an account and does not ask for political affiliation. Basic hosting and security logs may include technical information such as IP address, browser type, and requested pages.
Visitor measurement
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand visits to public reading pages and referral sources. Vercel measures visits without third-party analytics cookies and discards its visitor session after 24 hours; its reports also include browser and device information and approximate location. We remove URL query strings and fragments, exclude form and private pages, and discard pageviews with potentially sensitive referrers. We do not send names, email addresses, form contents, subscription status or custom political-interaction events to this analytics service, and we do not use its data for personalized advertising.
The Week on the Record
If you subscribe to The Week on the Record, we use your email address to send a confirmation link and, after you confirm, one weekly briefing through Resend. We keep your address, consent wording version, signup surface, confirmation and subscription status in our private database. We do not ask for political affiliation, store your IP address in the subscription record, sell the list or use subscriptions for advertising targeting. Confirmation links expire after 24 hours. Unconfirmed requests are removed at the next maintenance run after seven days. We keep active subscription and consent records while you subscribe; after you unsubscribe, we keep your opt-out and consent records to prevent unwanted sends unless you request deletion. Every briefing includes an unsubscribe link. Use our protected privacy contact form for access, export or deletion requests.
Before sending a confirmation link, we share your email address with ZeroBounce to check whether it can receive mail. We use its Verify+ option, which may send a validation message. We keep a limited validation result and check time in our private database and remove validation-attempt records during maintenance after seven days. Cloudflare Turnstile helps limit automated signups and may process technical information for that security check. We do not send your email address to Turnstile or your IP address to ZeroBounce.
Advertising
When advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies for delivery, frequency control, and measurement. The Stated Record will not send race selections, inferred political opinions, or evidence interactions as personalized-ad targeting signals. Consent controls will be provided where required.
Correction reports
When you submit a correction report, we store the affected page, your report, any supporting link, and any name or email address you choose to provide so we can review and respond. If you attach a screenshot, it is stored in private review storage and is not published automatically. Temporary review links expire after 24 hours; link expiration does not delete the stored file. We do not store your IP address in the correction record. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish legitimate submissions from automated abuse. Cloudflare may process limited technical information needed for that security check, but the written contents of your report and uploaded screenshot are not sent to Turnstile. See Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Contact messages
When you use the contact form, we store the selected topic, your message, and any name or reply email you choose to provide. We do not store your IP address in the message record.
