What they say

In the October 7 debate, Turek said he agrees with President Trump that private equity should get out of housing, something he said he has fought for his whole time in the Iowa Legislature.

“something I've fought for in all of my time in the Iowa Legislature”

What the record shows · Mar 5, 2025

He filed House File 745 alone on March 5, 2025. It would let cities ban purchases of single-family homes by companies using private equity, hedge or real estate funds from July 2025 through June 2030. It was sent to the Local Government Committee and the bill history lists nothing after that. The Legislature's list of the bills he sponsored in 2023 and 2024 has none on private equity or home purchases.

Limit: "All of my time" goes beyond the record: the one bill we found was filed in 2025, and his 2023-2024 bills, checked by title, include none on this. The bill never left committee.
