History and Final Disposition archive: Jackson veto-count definitionshttps://legislature.maine.gov/lio/histories-and-final-dispositions-archives/9176/Maine Legislature · Reviewed Nov 1, 2026
Counts use the Maine Legislature’s History and Final Disposition books for the 125th, 126th, 128th, 129th, 130th and 131st legislatures, their returned-veto appendices, official sponsor searches and the bill records for source discrepancies. Each legislature-and-LD pair counts once; reintroductions in later legislatures count separately. Main sponsorship means the bill’s presenter; the broader count includes named cosponsors. Sustained vetoes total 18 under LePage and 7 under Mills for main sponsorship, or 40 and 11 including cosponsorship. Jackson is absent from the 127th and 132nd sponsor rosters and searches. The 127th first-session history link returned HTML; it does not affect this named-sponsorship count. The bill list behind Jackson’s totals was not identified in his answer; these records do not measure broader leadership support.
