His medical degree
What they say
In the October 8 WOOD TV8 debate, El-Sayed called himself a doctor and said he has a medical degree from Columbia University.
What the record shows ·
In a 2015 article on Detroit choosing him as its health director, Columbia's Mailman School of Public Health, where he was an assistant professor of epidemiology, wrote that he "holds a medical degree from Columbia's College of Physicians and Surgeons" and a DPhil from Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
Limit: This is Columbia's own account, not a copy of the diploma. A medical degree is not a license to practice medicine, and this card does not check one.
