His campaign says every student deserves a quality education regardless of background or zip code, and names his support for Head Start, Title I, special education, career and technical education, and Pell Grants.
Chris Royal

Vicente Gonzalez: Matches stated record claim
His campaign says he has introduced legislation to forgive up to $25,000 in student loan debt. He introduced the Student Loan Relief Act as its only sponsor, as H.R. 8514 in 2020 and H.R. 6708 on February 11, 2022. The 2022 text directs the Secretary of Education to cancel or repay the lesser of $25,000 or a borrower's outstanding federal student loan balance. Both were referred to committee and went no further. Limit: He introduced what he says he introduced. Neither bill received a vote, and he has not reintroduced it since 2022.
