    Her campaign says she will do whatever it takes to prevent a national abortion ban, which it says would override the will of the people of Washington State. She was an original cosponsor of the Women's Health Protection Act in 2023 and again in 2025 (H.R. 12 both times). It would give patients a right to end a pregnancy before viability, and providers a right to provide abortions, free of bans. She was also an original cosponsor of the Ensuring Women's Right to Reproductive Freedom Act both times (H.R. 782, H.R. 4099), which would stop anyone acting under state law from blocking travel to another state for a legal abortion. In 2023 and again in 2024 she voted against House amendments to the defense bill that barred the Pentagon from paying abortion-related expenses (Roll Call 300 in 2023, Roll Call 263 in 2024). Both passed, and each time she then voted for the whole defense bill with the amendment in it (Roll Calls 328 and 279). Neither amendment is in the final law (Public Laws 118-31 and 118-159). Limit: Cosponsoring is support, not passage: none of the four bills has had a House vote. Both defense bills she voted for carried an abortion amendment she had voted against the day before.
