What the record shows ·
In November 2021 Alaska joined other states in suing over two federal rules: one for workers at large private employers and one for health care workers. On January 13, 2022 the U.S. Supreme Court blocked the employer rule but, 5 to 4, let the health care worker rule go ahead. In December 2021 Alaska and 23 other states sued over the rule for Head Start workers, and in September 2022 a federal judge in Louisiana permanently blocked it in those states. A judge in Georgia blocked the rule for federal contractors in a separate case; Alaska backed that ruling with a brief and had its own suit pending.
Limit: The Supreme Court let the health care worker mandate go ahead while that case went on. Each suit was brought by a group of states.
