Urging leaders to protect Medicaid in H.R. 1
What they say
His campaign says he repeatedly urged congressional leaders to protect Medicaid while H.R. 1 was being written, pointing to letters in April and June 2025.
“Throughout consideration of H.R. 1, Rob repeatedly urged congressional leaders to protect both vulnerable Medicaid beneficiaries and the hospitals and health care providers that serve them.”
What the record shows ·
He signed an April 14, 2025 letter to House leaders with 11 other members, saying they would not support a final bill with any reduction in Medicaid coverage for vulnerable people. On June 24, 2025 he and 15 others asked House and Senate leaders to keep the House bill's Medicaid terms rather than a Senate proposal. His House office posted both letters. He voted Yea on H.R. 1 on May 22, 2025 and Aye on the final version on July 3, 2025.
Limit: The letters show what he asked for, not what the final law did to Medicaid. This card does not test the Medicaid changes in the law he voted for.
