In short
Mendoza's campaign says Congress must approve new troop commitments; Ciscomani's campaign says he secured a new Fort Huachuca mission. No campaign site or position was found for Peters; Swing's campaign would cut the military budget 90 percent. Marine Corps reports show Mendoza's rank and training role; other service details are her account. Ciscomani voted for a defense law barring Army electronic warfare testing cuts until a report to Congress, without naming Fort Huachuca's proving ground.

Evidence timeline
campaign position
Marine reports document her gunnery sergeant rank and training role in 2011 and 2014. The enlistment, Navy service, 20-year career and deployment details remain her campaign's account.
In the September 10 debate, Mendoza described enlisting at seventeen, serving first in the Navy and then the Marine Corps for twenty years, combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and serving as a Marine drill instructor. Contemporary Marine Corps reporting identifies Gunnery Sgt. JoAnna Mendoza in August 2011 as the staff noncommissioned officer in charge of a Corporals Course at Combat Logistics Regiment 17. January 2014 reporting identifies her as a company gunnery sergeant in the same regiment. Her campaign biography supplies the Navy-to-Marines sequence, enlistment age, twenty-year career, drill-instructor role and Iraq and Afghanistan deployments. Why there is no verdict: Marine service and named leadership roles are independently corroborated. The complete service chronology, specific deployments and recruit drill-instructor assignment are not established by the reviewed public military reports. Limit: The two military reports corroborate Marine service and those leadership roles. They do not independently date enlistment at seventeen, Navy service or transfer, the full twenty-year duration, each deployment or its combat characterization, or a recruit drill-instructor billet. A Corporals Course assignment and close-order drill are different roles. Those specific details remain her attributed account; the absence of a public service record is not evidence against them.
campaign position
His roles include national-security appropriations, not the current House Intelligence roster. His intended committees, debate-date roles and record Mexico sharing remain unsettled.
In the September 10 debate, Ciscomani described service on intelligence committees and said intelligence sharing with Mexico was greater than ever before. The Clerk and his office list Appropriations and Veterans’ Affairs. His appropriations subcommittees include Homeland Security and National Security, Department of State, and Related Agencies. The current formal House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence roster does not list him. These are different committee structures. Why there is no verdict: Formal committee structures are documented, but the intended intelligence-committee reference and historical Mexico-sharing superlative remain unresolved. No classified material is requested or inferred. Limit: The plural intelligence-committees wording may refer informally to funding oversight or briefings; formal roster records do not resolve his intended meaning. They do not show he never receives intelligence briefings or lacks access. A defined public measure and consistent historical series establishing more sharing with Mexico than ever before were not identified. Current rosters also do not reconstruct every assignment at the September 10 debate date.
official action
He voted for the 2026 defense law, which bars the Army from cutting its electronic warfare testing until it reports to Congress but does not name the Electronic Proving Ground.
His House office says the 2026 defense bill secured wins for the district, starting with language for Fort Huachuca's Electronic Proving Ground. He voted Aye when the House passed its 2026 defense bill, H.R. 3838, 231 to 196 on September 10, 2025 (Roll Call 262), and Yea on the final version, S. 1071, which passed the House 312 to 112 on December 10 (Roll Call 320). It became Public Law 119-60 on December 18, 2025. Section 1546 bars the Army from closing, merging or cutting back its electronic warfare testing until it reports to Congress. Section 1047 lets the Air Force give five retired T-37B trainers to the Arizona Aviation Historical Group. Section 2608 lets it acquire 10 acres for an earlier project at Tucson International Airport. Limit: The law does not name the Electronic Proving Ground, and it does not show who asked for each section. His votes were on the whole bill.
