Immigration

In short

Evans's House office backs border security, streamlining legal immigration and deporting immigrants here illegally who commit crimes. Rutinel's campaign would limit how ICE operates, focus deportation on violent criminals and offer Dreamers a path to citizenship. Wood's campaign lists no immigration position on the pages checked. Evans cosponsored the Dignity Act, still in committee, and asked Homeland Security to speed DACA renewals; Rutinel cosponsored and voted for Colorado's 2025 law limiting police help to ICE.

Evidence timeline

What the record shows.

  1. Occurred Jul 15, 2025

    official action

    Gabe Evans: Matches stated direction

He cosponsored the Dignity Act, which takes on legal immigration backlogs but has not left committee, and led a letter asking DHS to speed DACA renewals.

    Read the full check

    Full detail

His office lists his priorities as securing the border, streamlining legal immigration and deporting immigrants here illegally who commit crimes. He is an original cosponsor of the Dignity Act, H.R. 4393, from July 15, 2025. The bill pairs border security and mandatory E-Verify with a Dream Act, a legal-status program, and a title on legal immigration backlogs. It has not left committee. In July 2026 he led a letter asking DHS to speed up DACA renewals. He also voted for H.R. 1, now Public Law 119-21, which adds new fees on asylum, parole, work permits and visas. Limit: Cosponsoring a bill that has not moved costs little. The letter asks an agency to act; it changes no law. New fees do not by themselves make the system slower or faster.

  2. Occurred May 23, 2025

    official action

Manny Rutinel: Matches stated record claim

The signed law lists him as a House cosponsor, and he voted yes when the House passed it 42 to 21 in May 2025.

    Full detail

His campaign says he voted to protect Colorado immigrants from ICE as a cosponsor of SB25-276, which limits Colorado law enforcement's help to ICE. The signed act lists Rutinel among its House cosponsors. He voted yes when the House passed it 42 to 21 on May 3, 2025. It was signed on May 23, 2025. Limit: His page also compares him with the other candidates; a claim about an opponent is outside this site's scope.
