Her official education page says every American child deserves access to a quality education and lists bills she says she worked on: loan counselling before federal student loans are disbursed, letting states use unspent recovery funds for school security, a tax-credit school choice measure she cosponsored, and reauthorizing children's mental and behavioural health programmes.
Her campaign says Iowa once ranked first in public education and now suffers funding shortfalls, and opposes the state and national voucher plans she says her opponent supports; she would reinvest at every level from pre-K to universities and apprenticeships, focus on rural and small-town schools, expand career and technical education, and guarantee school and summer lunch.
His campaign says Iowa's national education ranking fell to 27th in the 2026 Kids Count Data Book, with 71 percent of fourth graders not proficient in reading and 73 percent of eighth graders not proficient in maths; he would back federal unified waiver programmes that cut reporting requirements and send the money to classrooms to reduce class sizes, protect electives and fund literacy training.
