Her campaign says she supports a full ban on stock trading by members of Congress, the White House and their staff, with jail for offenders if fines do not stop it; a twelve-year term limit; an enforceable Supreme Court ethics code; a nationwide ban on partisan gerrymandering; bans on corporate PACs and super PACs and overturning Citizens United; a lifetime ban on members becoming lobbyists; required annual public town halls; published meeting schedules; and independent public audits of federal agency spending.

official action
He says he led on banning congressional stock trading and delivered a ban through the House. He cosponsored H.R. 7008, the Stop Insider Trading Act, on the day it was introduced, January 12, 2026, as one of ninety-three cosponsors and an original cosponsor, and voted Yea when it passed the House 232 to 198 on July 22, 2026 (Roll Call 280); it is on the Senate calendar and is not law. His own two bills on the subject went no further than committee: the Prohibit Insider Trading Act (H.R. 1138), introduced on February 21, 2023, in his second month in office, and the No Corruption in Government Act (H.R. 358), introduced on January 13, 2025. Limit: A ban did pass the House with his vote and cosponsorship, so "we delivered in the House" holds; "led the charge from day one" is his characterization of a bill he cosponsored rather than sponsored, and his own two bills never left committee. The bill is not law. What the ban covers is a question about the bill's text, which this card does not assess.
official action
She says she wants an outright ban on stock trading in Congress, covering all politicians, with criminal penalties. She is one of six Senate sponsors of Senate File 557 (2025), a bill restricting transactions in covered financial instruments by members of the Iowa general assembly, legislative staff and their immediate family on the basis of nonpublic information, and providing penalties; it was introduced and referred to State Government on March 6, 2025, assigned a subcommittee on March 11, and went no further. Limit: A state bill covering state legislators is not the congressional ban she calls for, and no state senate seat can legislate one; the state bill turns on trading on the basis of nonpublic information rather than the outright ban with jail time her statement describes, and it did not advance out of committee. The check covers the descriptions the Legislature publishes for all 223 bills and resolutions it lists for her across the 89th, 90th and 91st General Assemblies; a floor amendment would not appear.
