Health care

In short

Hines backs cost caps, drug-price negotiation and stronger public coverage programs. Bouchard favors patient choice and clear prices. Nkromo’s questionnaire calls for better health care without a detailed plan. Saliba’s checked campaign pages offer no health-care position. Kirby’s 2020 statement describes her family’s insurance difficulties but sets out no policy.

Campaign positions

What each campaign says.

Christina Bertrand Hines

She says health care is a human right, and wants caps on premiums and out-of-pocket costs, more drug-price negotiation, a ban on surprise bills, and a stronger ACA, Medicare and Medicaid.

Michael Bouchard

He says people should pick their own health care, at low cost, high quality and with clear prices.

Mike Saliba

No health-care position was found on his campaign site, which covers foreign policy, privacy, the debt, the Federal Reserve and five bills.

Kwabena Nkromo

His candidate questionnaire calls for better health care without specifying a coverage or funding plan.

Andrea L. Kirby

In her 2020 statement she wrote that her mother, a nurse for 35 years, had no health coverage when she was diagnosed with cancer, and that families fight for insurance and public help. It sets out no policy.
