    Full detail

Her statement on winning the nomination says she will work to improve community safety. She is the first-listed sponsor of House Bill 28, the Gun Violence Prevention Act, which creates tougher felony classes when a person barred from having guns as a felon has, shows or fires one while committing a felony. It passed the House 111 to 7 on March 18, 2025. The same text became law as Part VIII of Senate Bill 311 (Session Law 2025-71), signed July 9, 2025, and took effect December 1, 2025. She voted for that bill (House roll call 565, 100 to 7). Limit: Her bill's text became law inside a Senate bill with other sponsors and many other parts. 'Community safety' is broad, and this card does not score the rest of her record on crime and policing.
