Ethics and term limits

In short

Janelle Stelson's campaign would limit members of Congress to 12 years, ban members and their families from trading individual stocks, and ban members from ever lobbying. Stelson's campaign says she sold her individual stocks before running; her disclosures from January 2023 to July 2026 list none, and when she sold them is not established.

    Full detail

Her campaign says she sold her individual stocks before running and will not own or trade them in office. Her four candidate financial disclosures, filed with the House in February 2024, August 2024, November 2025 (amended August 2026) and August 2026, cover January 2023 to July 2026. Each lists one bank account and five funds held in her former employer's retirement plan. None lists an individual stock. Limit: The reports show she held no individual stocks from January 2023 on. When she sold them is not established: a candidate report lists no sales, and no official record of the sale was found. The promise about time in office cannot be tested yet.
