    Full detail

His campaign says he supports reforms that keep coverage for pre-existing conditions and lower prescription drug costs. He cosponsored the Pre-existing Conditions Protection Act in 2019 and 2021, and a 2019 bipartisan bill to keep the FDA reviewing some pending insulin applications under the drug pathway. None passed. He voted against three health and drug-cost bills that passed the House: H.R. 3 in 2019, the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, which let Medicare negotiate some drug prices and capped Medicare insulin costs, and the bipartisan Lower Costs, More Transparency Act in 2023. In 2017 he voted for the American Health Care Act, which would have let states allow insurers to price coverage by health status for some people with a gap in coverage. Limit: His cosponsored bills point the way he says, but none passed, and he voted against the drug-cost bills that did pass the House. The 2022 law also held climate and tax measures.
