His campaign's issues page makes the border its own section, headed "Sovereignty Matters. Borders Must Hold." He says he will help President Trump finish the border wall, deport people he describes as criminal illegal aliens, and secure the border, and the page grounds that in his record of suing the previous federal administration over its border policies.
His campaign uses one image for its position, that the border "should have a welcome mat out front and a lock on the door", and would pass comprehensive immigration reform, focus immigration enforcement on criminals and traffickers rather than settled residents, bar immigration agents from wearing masks or refusing to identify themselves, create a path to citizenship for long-settled immigrants and DREAMers, hire more immigration judges, and deploy detection technology at ports of entry.
His campaign would abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement outright, confine Customs and Border Protection to the border and ports of entry, end interior checkpoints and detention facilities, and open what he calls an Ellis Island-style system: free movement across borders, entry at any international port after a criminal-record and communicable-disease check, and work permitted from the first day. He says a border wall would no longer have a reason to exist.
