Did crime in Boca Raton drop 25% while Scott Singer was mayor?

Not comparable yet. The state's 2018 count and its newer incident-based counts are kept differently, so they cannot test a 25% drop.

What they say

His campaign says police funding he backed led to a 25% drop in crime while he was mayor.

“funding to ensure the best police professionals, leading to a 25% drop in crime rates when he was mayor”

What the record shows

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement counted 2,566 of its seven major "index" crimes reported to Boca Raton police in 2018. It has since moved to an incident-based count that covers 56 more kinds of offense and can record up to 10 offenses in one incident.

Limit: FDLE says its old and new crime counts are not comparable, so they cannot test a 25% drop. Only FDLE's counts were read, not his votes on police funding.
