What they say

He says members of Congress should never be allowed to trade their own stocks, a belief he says predates his time in office.

“Members of Congress should never be allowed to trade their own stocks and profit off the information they are entrusted with; this is a belief I have held since before taking office”

What the record shows · Aug 13, 2026

His 18 stock-trade reports for 2025 list more than 600 trades in individual stocks and options, from January to December 11, 2025. From August 2025 the reports say advisers make the decisions and he has no role. His three 2026 reports list only purchases of government bonds and Treasury notes. His 2025 annual report, filed August 13, 2026, still lists individual stocks among his assets.

Limit: He is talking about what the law should allow. Members could legally trade, and these trades come from his own reports. The count is a hand count of those reports.
