What they say
His office says mothers and babies on WIC should not go hungry because of a government shutdown.
“Moms and babies should not go hungry because Washington cannot do its job”
What the record shows ·
He introduced H.R. 5836, the Keep WIC Working Act, on October 28, 2025, to fund WIC during any shutdown in fiscal 2026. It is still in committee. On November 12, 2025 he voted for H.R. 5371, which the House cleared 222-209 and which became Public Law 119-37 that day. Its farm and food title, Division B, gives WIC $8.2 billion.
Limit: His own bill would have lasted only until the year's farm and food funding passed, which this law did.
