What the record shows ·
He sponsored H.R. 984, the Thomasina E. Jordan Indian Tribes of Virginia Federal Recognition Act of 2017, and moved it on the House floor himself. Both chambers passed it by voice vote, and it became Public Law 115-121 on January 29, 2018. Its six titles each recognize one tribe. He was on the bill in every Congress from 2009: an original cosponsor of the 2009 version, which passed the House, a cosponsor in 2011 and 2013, and the sponsor in 2015.
Limit: The effort began before he took office. Both chambers passed the final bill by voice vote, so no roll call records who supported it.
