What they say
In the October 7 KOIN 6 debate, Gluesenkamp Perez said that when the President tried to defund the independent agency investigating the Longview mill disaster, she worked with Republicans to get it fully funded.
What the record shows ·
The President's 2027 budget proposed no money for the Chemical Safety Board. The House Appropriations Committee's draft of the 2027 Interior bill gave it $8,235,000. On June 3, 2026 the committee adopted subcommittee chairman Mike Simpson's manager's amendment by voice vote, which raised that to $14,000,000, and it reported the bill (H.R. 9171) with $14,000,000 on June 5. Her office says the increase was her amendment.
Limit: This is a committee bill. The full House has not voted on it, so the money is not law. The increase came in the Republican subcommittee chairman's amendment; that it was hers is her office's account.
