What they say

In the October 7 KOIN 6 debate, Gluesenkamp Perez said that from day one she put muscle behind getting as much federal money as possible for the I-5 bridge, and that she brought back $2.1 billion for the project.

What the record shows · Jul 12, 2024

The bridge program has two large federal grants: $600 million from the Mega program in December 2023 and $1.499 billion from the Bridge Investment Program in July 2024, about $2.1 billion together, plus a $1 million planning grant in 2022. Both large grants were awarded on applications from the states' transportation departments. She signed the August 2023 letter backing the Mega application with all of Washington's congressional delegation. Her office says she led a November 2023 letter with Senators Murray and Cantwell backing the second grant.

Limit: The record shows the grants and her letters of support, not her share of the result. The $600 million grant also has its own card.
