Evidence timeline
official action
Section 4306 of the House-passed farm bill is the Local Farmers Feeding Our Communities Program, but without his bill's set $200 million a year; the Senate has not passed it.
His office says the House farm bill includes his bipartisan Local Farmers Feeding our Communities Act. He introduced H.R. 4782 on July 29, 2025, with Democratic and Republican original cosponsors. Section 4306 of the House farm bill, H.R. 7567, is the Local Farmers Feeding Our Communities Program. He voted for the farm bill, which passed the House 224-200 on April 30, 2026. The Senate has not passed it. Limit: "Final bill" means the House-passed version. It is not law, and the section could change in a deal with the Senate. The section copies his bill's program but not its guaranteed $200 million a year; the money would depend on yearly appropriations.
official action
He introduced a 2025 bill to fund WIC during a shutdown, which stayed in committee, and voted for a November 2025 spending law that gave WIC $8.2 billion.
His office says mothers and babies on WIC should not go hungry because of a government shutdown. He introduced H.R. 5836, the Keep WIC Working Act, on October 28, 2025, to fund WIC during any shutdown in fiscal 2026. It is still in committee. On November 12, 2025 he voted for H.R. 5371, which the House cleared 222-209 and which became Public Law 119-37 that day. Its farm and food title, Division B, gives WIC $8.2 billion. Limit: His own bill would have lasted only until the year's farm and food funding passed, which this law did.
