Evidence timeline
official action
He cosponsored the Faster Labor Contracts Act, setting deadlines for first union contracts, and voted for it when the House passed it in 2026; the Senate has not.
His office says the right to bargain collectively is the cornerstone of fair labor. He was an original cosponsor of H.R. 5408, the Faster Labor Contracts Act, introduced September 16, 2025. It sets deadlines for an employer and a new union to start bargaining, then mediation and binding arbitration if they cannot agree on a first contract. On June 9, 2026 he voted for the motion that forced it to the floor and for the bill itself; it passed 230-193 and went to the Senate. Limit: The Senate has not passed it, so it is not law.
official action
House Clerk records show he signed the discharge petition on September 2, 2025, and he voted for H.R. 2550, which passed the House in December 2025 and has not passed the Senate.
His office says he broke with his party to restore federal workers' union rights, signing the discharge petition that forced the vote. The Clerk's signature list for discharge petition 119-6 shows his signature on September 2, 2025. He voted for the motion to discharge on December 10, 2025 and for H.R. 2550 on December 11; it passed 231-195 and went to the Senate. He had cosponsored the bill in April 2025. Limit: The bill has not passed the Senate, so the bargaining rights are not restored in law.
