Health care: Medicare coverage of multi-cancer screening
What they say
In the October 20 KCRG-TV9 debate, Miller-Meeks said she introduced and passed into law multi-cancer early detection, and in her closing that she passed a bill for it.
What the record shows ·
The House bill, H.R. 842, the Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act, was introduced by Representative Jodey Arrington on January 31, 2025, and she is an original cosponsor, added that day. None of the bills she had sponsored as of September 13, 2026 has multi-cancer in its title. Medicare coverage of multi-cancer early detection screening tests became law in Division J, Health Care Extenders, of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026, H.R. 7148, Public Law 119-75, signed February 3, 2026. She voted Yea when the House passed that act 341 to 88 on January 22, 2026 (Roll Call 45) and when it agreed to the Senate's changes 217 to 214 on February 3, 2026 (Roll Call 53). The enacted text covers tests furnished on or after January 1, 2029. Her office's release that day calls it legislation she led.
Limit: What she backed became law, and she backed it from the day the House bill was filed and voted for the act that carried it. Congress lists Arrington as the one sponsor, and she is an original cosponsor, so "introduced" means she joined the bill when it was filed rather than filed it herself. The record does not show who drafted it. Coverage applies to tests furnished from January 1, 2029, so no one has the benefit yet; her office's release gave 2028.
