What the record shows ·
In August 2026 he introduced the Lifelong Learning Act with Republican Brad Finstad. It would let local job-training boards spend up to 30 percent of their federal training money, up from 20, on training people who already have jobs. He cosponsors bills to fully fund the federal share of special education (IDEA Full Funding Act), to fund debt-free study at in-state public colleges (Debt-Free College Act of 2026), and to let college work-study students work in Head Start and other early learning programs (Head Start for Our Future Act).
Limit: None of these bills has had a vote. He voted against the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the 2025 budget reconciliation law, which among many other things created Pell grants for job-training courses of 8 to under 15 weeks.
