What they say

His campaign says he is fighting to make housing more affordable.

“Don Davis is fighting to lower prescription drug prices, make housing more affordable, and protect working families from price increases that hit their wallets the hardest.”

What the record shows · Jul 11, 2026

He voted for H.R. 6644, then called the Housing for the 21st Century Act, when the House passed it 390-9 on February 9, 2026. On June 23 he voted for the final version, renamed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, which passed 358-32 and became law on July 11, 2026. The law sets up federal grants for local governments that have added housing. It also lets rural home-repair loans under $15,000, up from $7,500, be made on a promissory note alone. That change was also in his own 2024 Rural Housing Assistance Act, introduced with Republican Zach Nunn, which never left committee.

Limit: Both House votes were lopsided, 390-9 and 358-32, so his vote does not set him apart. The law's text does not show what it will do to housing costs.
