Making the tips tax break permanent
What they say
In the October 7 KOIN 6 debate, Gluesenkamp Perez said the 2025 law's no-tax-on-tips break is short-lived and that her bill would make it permanent.
What the record shows ·
She is a cosponsor of the No Tax on Tips Act (H.R. 482), introduced by Rep. Vern Buchanan on January 16, 2025; she joined on October 6, 2025. It would let workers deduct up to $25,000 a year in cash tips and sets no end date. The 2025 law's tips deduction ends after 2028. H.R. 482 has had no committee or floor vote.
Limit: Congress lists her as a cosponsor, not the sponsor; the site counts both. The bill was written before the 2025 law passed, and it is still in committee.
