Voter guide

Background, stated goals, record, and money

Goals come from the campaign's own platform. Record lines are official actions.

How this guide is built

Background comes from official records, and from the campaign's own biography where the bullet says so; goals are summarized from the campaign's own platform and stay attributed; the record lines are official actions with the government source attached; money is shown as filed, with the filings it covers in the note under the table, and is not evidence of why any position was taken.

What they say

His campaign says he fought against the Republicans' "Big Beautiful Bill" and its Medicaid cuts.

“When Republicans rammed through their "Big Beautiful Bill" slashing nearly a trillion dollars from Medicaid, Jared fought against the bill.”

What the record shows · Jul 3, 2025

He voted against H.R. 1 on both House votes: Nay when it passed 215-214 on May 22, 2025, and No when the House agreed to the Senate's version 218-214 on July 3, 2025. It became law on July 4, 2025.

Limit: Every House Democrat voted the same way. The vote is the record tested; any other work against the bill and the Medicaid figure were not.

Jared Moskowitz

Property insurance: the bill he wrote

Matches stated direction

What they say

His campaign says he wrote legislation to cut homeowners' property insurance premiums.

What the record shows · Nov 21, 2025

What they say

His campaign says he wrote legislation to cut homeowners' property insurance premiums.

“He authored legislation to cut homeowners' property insurance premiums, one of the biggest expenses squeezing Florida families”

What the record shows · Nov 21, 2025

He introduced the Natural Disaster Risk Reinsurance Program Act in 2023 (H.R. 3525) and again on November 21, 2025 (H.R. 6274), with no cosponsors either time. It would have the Treasury cover very large disaster losses for states that join, with the stated goal of keeping insurers solvent while keeping coverage affordable. Neither version got past referral to the Financial Services Committee.

Limit: He did write the bill. The bill names affordability as a goal but sets no premium cut, and it has not had a hearing or a vote, so whether it would lower premiums is untested.

He introduced H.R. 1335, the Measures for Safer School Districts (MSD) Act, on February 13, 2025, with Republican Brian Fitzpatrick and Democrat Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick as original cosponsors. It would require school districts to set emergency response and parent notification procedures and to reinforce school doors. It was referred to committee and has had no vote.

Limit: Sponsoring is what the sentence claims, and the record shows it with a Republican cosponsor. The bill has not passed either chamber.

Jared Moskowitz

His campaign says he supports banning members of Congress from trading stocks.

On July 22, 2026 he voted for the Stop Insider Trading Act (H.R. 7008), which would bar members and their spouses and dependent children from buying stocks and require public notice before a sale. He was one of 13 Democrats to vote yes; it passed 232-198. As passed, it also requires voters to show photo ID in federal elections. The Senate fell short of the votes to take it up on September 30, 2026. He also cosponsors two bills that have had no vote: the Restore Trust in Congress Act (H.R. 5106), which would bar members and their families from owning or trading stocks, and the TRUST in Congress Act (H.R. 396), which would require a blind trust.

Limit: The bill he voted for bans buying stocks, not owning them, and is not law. Just before it, he voted with his party for a motion to send it back to committee, which failed 211-218.

“He helped craft and pass the bipartisan Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act”

What the record shows · Mar 7, 2018

As a state representative he offered his own 112-page version of CS/SB 7026, replacing most of the bill. It kept the red flag and age-21 provisions; the House rejected it 42-71 on March 6, 2018. The next day he voted for the bill as written when the House passed it 67-50. It became Chapter 2018-3, which creates risk protection orders and says a person younger than 21 may not buy a firearm.

Limit: The record shows him working on the bill and voting for it, but his own version was rejected. Whether any of his words are in the final law is not established: no adopted amendment or official credit in his name was found.

The agency named his successor after he resigned in 2021.

Limit: The record is the agency's account of its own work while he ran it. The meals figure was not found in the records read.
