Juan Ciscomani

Veterans: home ownership and survivors

Matches stated direction

What they say

His campaign says he worked to help veterans own homes, and to make sure veterans' surviving families get the benefits they were promised.

“expand opportunities for military veterans to achieve the dream of homeownership”

What the record shows · Apr 9, 2025

His Prioritizing Veterans' Survivors Act, which moves the VA's Office of Survivors Assistance into the Secretary's office, passed the House by voice vote in September 2024 (H.R. 7100) and 424 to 0 in April 2025 (H.R. 1228, Roll Call 99). It has not passed the Senate. The Dole act he sponsored in the House, now Public Law 118-210, rewrites the VA's direct home loan program for Native American veterans (section 231) and ends the time limit on the Fry Scholarship for surviving spouses (section 202). He cosponsored the VA Home Loan Program Reform Act in 2024 (H.R. 8647), which did not pass, and two VA home loan bills in 2026 (H.R. 8532 and H.R. 9404), both in committee.

Limit: His survivors bill has not become law. The home-loan change that did is for Native American veterans on trust land, a small group, and the home-loan bills he cosponsored have not passed. The record shows the direction he claims, not a broad expansion of home ownership.
