He voted Aye when the House gave final approval to H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, 218 to 214 on July 3, 2025 (Roll Call 190); it became Public Law 119-21 the next day. Its section 70103 adds a $6,000 deduction for each taxpayer 65 or older for tax years 2025 through 2028, reduced above $75,000 of income, or $150,000 on a joint return. The law's text does not mention Social Security benefits.

Limit: The deduction is for people 65 or older, whether or not they draw Social Security. It shrinks at higher incomes and ends after 2028. It does not exempt Social Security benefits from tax.
