What they say

Her campaign says it will reinstate the Remain in Mexico policy, end catch and release, complete border infrastructure, support Border Patrol, hire more immigration judges and support E-Verify.

“Reinstate the Remain in Mexico policy”

What the record shows · Jul 4, 2025

She voted Yea on H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, which passed the House 219 to 213 on May 11, 2023. Its text orders border wall construction to resume, lets the Homeland Security Secretary return migrants arriving by land to Mexico while their cases proceed, and makes E-Verify mandatory for employers. The Senate placed it on its calendar and never voted on it. She also sponsored H.Res. 1065, denouncing the Biden administration's immigration policies, which the House adopted 226 to 193 on March 12, 2024. The 2025 reconciliation act, which she voted for twice and which became Public Law 119-21, pays for border wall construction ($46.55 billion, section 90001), more Border Patrol agents (section 90002) and hiring immigration judges (section 100054).

Limit: H.R. 2 did not become law, but the wall, Border Patrol and immigration-judge money in the 2025 act did. The same act caps the number of immigration judges at 800 from November 2028. Her votes on that act were votes on the whole act. A resolution states a view and changes no policy.
