What the record shows ·
On January 31, 2019 he voted for both measures that let Arizona sign the Colorado River Drought Contingency Plan. SJR 1001 authorized the agreements and passed the House 60-0. SB 1227 set up a fund to pay Arizona water users to leave Colorado River water in Lake Mead, to lower the chance of cuts to the state's share; it passed 59-0. Both were signed that day. In 2022 he voted for SB 1740, which set aside $1 billion over three years for a new long-term water augmentation fund. It passed the House 48-1 and became law. The 2023 budget, which he voted against, cut $143.8 million from the fund's second payment.
Limit: Nearly every House member voted the same way on all three. Arizona's share of the river comes from a Supreme Court decree, not from these state votes.
